Howdy! Didja ever hear of a "catamaran blade"? (sm)
Wed Sep 15, 2004 03:35

This guy is using a "10-mm catamaran blade" in an ACL reconstruction to harvest patellar tendon. I never heard of it and can't seem to confirm it. Not wanting to leave a stone unturned, I figured I'd see if any of my colleagues had heard of this one. Although he's a lousy, careless dictator, he is pretty clear in his pronunciation of this and says it more than once:

"With the patellar tendon fully exposed, a catamaran blade was used to remove the central portion of the patellar tendon; this was a 10-mm catamaran blade. In this fashion, the central one third of the patellar tendon was removed. It was removed with blocks of bone from both the patella as well as the tibia. These blocks were removed using a small oscillating saw." etc.

Thanks very much. It's okay if you haven't heard of it. I just figured I'd do my due diligence and check. :-)

Have a great day!!
