beginning a sentence

Sentence is: Was unable to pass a balloon across the right renal artery because of the severe inferior takeoff and poor guiding position.

Since this is in interval history I have no idea who did the angiography so don't know what to put at the beginning of the sentence. I can't put "I" since I don't know if it was this doctor or another doctor.

but if you are allowed to lightly edit, I would start the sentence with "The patient"
