Initial electrocardiogram appeared to be almost supraventricular tachycardia; however, when I "s/l gain at him" and do vagal maneuvers it clearly slows to an atrial fibrillation.

but if it's any help, I wonder if he's saying "when I instructed/asked/commanded (whatever) to do vagal maneuvers... since vagal maneuvers are done by the patient, not by the doctor (e.g. Valsalva)
