Patient found to have DVT after a flight
Tue Feb 17, 2004 09:55

to another country. He was seen by a physician in this country and sent out on "diuretics" but it did not get better.

Doctor is clear though. I am flagging and just wondering if you would as well. All my research shows treatment for DVT to be similar to the following...

"Treatment:

Patients are primarily prescribed anticoagulant medications. These drugs prevent blood clots from forming and keep existing clots from getting bigger. Clot-dissolving drugs - thrombolytic drugs - also may be used to treat DVT, but require careful hospital supervision

Other methods of treatment include bed rest with the leg (or arm) elevated above the heart, elastic bandages or support stockings, or surgical intervention."
