Appendectomy help please. SM

Pt received antibiotics in the ER. After the "extubation of calf compression devices", general anesthesia was induced. The patient was prepped and draped in the sterile manner. A vertical midline incision was made in the "caudal" end of the umbilicus. The Veress needle was introduced, "dropped and aspiration" were negative.

compression devices, although I have never heard them called that before - usually sequential compression devices.

Second one could be correct, although I would reword it to drop and aspiration. Hanging drop technique and aspiration are frequently used to check needle position.
